Downloading a document to your computer

When you choose a document from the articles list, it will either open as a PDF document on your computer or it will download an Excel or Word document ready for you to open.

PDF Documents

You must have a pdf reader on your computer. These are commonly pre installed when you buy a modern computer but if you have problems you can down load free pdf readers from the internet. A search on “free pdf readers “ should bring up many results for you to consider.

Excel or Word documents

You must have at least Microsoft Excel 2010 or Word 2010 installed on your computer. Some downloads may however work on Excel or Word 2007.

When you choose download, the file will be downloaded to your computer. This is often a folder called “Downloads” can be found on your “c “ drive.

TIP: If you press the windows button( bottom row of keyboard) and “E” at the same time this will display a list of the folder structure on your computer. Very often, the downloads folder is under “Favourites” at the top on the left hand side of the screen. If you can not find it or you want more help then contact us.

You may be asked if you want to Save or Open the document.

If you choose “Save”, an option will appear to save it to a location of your choice.

If you choose “Open”, it will open on your screen and then you can use “Save as” to save it to a location of your choice.

If nothing appears to have happened, locate your “Download” folder (see tip above) and the document should be there. You can then open it or move it to a location of your choice.

Excel Documents

Our Excel documents may have Macros which help automate the document i.e.viewing or processing the information may be a selective process. In these circumstances, you will need to have Macro’s enabled on your computer for the automated areas to work.
